My Story

Jessica Gruss NBC-HWC is a Personal Empowerment Coach and founder of And Then She Woke Lifestyle Coaching. She works with overachieving moms who's health & wellbeing has taken a back seat to all their competing priorities, and are now facing burnout. She helps them escape survival mode through a personalized holistic self-care plan that feels authentic to who they are while allowing them to live with more presence, joy, & ease. 

 Her signature process puts the client in the driver's seat, becoming the authority of their truth, their health, and their story. With increased confidence, resilience, and focus they can overcome their biggest challenges and find more meaning & fulfillment in their lives.

She believes that struggling isn't failing. It actually reflects a desire for change. With the right support and accountability each of us has the power to learn, heal, grow, and thrive through even the most challenging situations in our lives.

In addition to one-on-one coaching, she also facilitates workshops for professional teams who want to increase their productivity, engagement, and retention by addressing the causes of employee burnout and supporting team members in making healthy changes to their lifestyles. 

 

Jessica has always been passionate about helping people live healthier lives, but that passion ignited after her 2016 diagnosis of stage 4 cancer. Her subsequent battle and recovery set the stage for a journey that truly transformed how she thought about health, wellness and living life with intention. 

 

She holds a BA in Biology from McDaniel College. She is a certified Health & Wellness Coach, a Certified Life Coach, as well as a Certified Transformative and Self-Mastery Coach through The Health Coach Institute. She is certified in Employee Health & Stress Management through the Stanford Center for Health Education, and has earned her National Board Certification through NBHWC. 

 

Jessica lives in Sykesville, MD with her husband Thad, her daughter Emerson, and their four dogs. She loves travel, live music, and going on culinary adventures. She spends her summers almost exclusively outdoors camping, hiking, biking and kayaking. In the winter she finds herself indoors, cooking, reading, and spending quality time with family & friends.
